Wow. This was just terrific. I don't know why I never heard her sing this before. I guess I just thought she was a pop singer and I wan't interested in following her at all. Lush Life is legendarily the most difficult song in the jazz vocalist repertoire, and lots of famous singers have left it alone. Supposedly Sinatra tried to record it a number of times, and always felt he couldn't get it right. A lot of people would agree that the best version of the song was by Johnny Hartman with the Coltrane Quartet. I also love Andy Bey's version, and Sarah Vaughan did a great version live at the London House in Chicago. But this was great. Just great.
